Lakehouse Update

Work is coming along at the house. Some weeks we get alot accomplished and some weeks we get nothing done and enjoy life. Life is too short for all work and no play. This week is the latter.... spending a few days in town relaxing and making fun suppers for Perry and Bold. Canadian, Indian and Asian cuisine this week yummy!! Carpenters arrive next week to finish up the decks and the exterior work on the house. Hopefully at the same time we have the finishing carpenters there as well and they are going to be completing the bonus room ceilings, windows and some door trims. The installers are tentatively booked for the bonus room floor September 10th. I hope we can make this date work. So looking forward to having a sewing room again. Once the floor is laid I will be in full set up mode! Digging thru boxes to find fabric is not alot of fun. I have a sweet baby grandson to prepare for who's arriving late November. So much to do so little time.
Washing the barn boards we are putting in the garage 1/2 bath
The ants added a new look to some of the boards???
Found this great old barn that had beautiful long wide well preserved weathered boards
Kitchen ceiling installation. Stained the pine a pickled white for the rustic look
The hallway ceiling complete. A couple more lights left here to install
Hall ceiling
Working our way into the kitchen now
Trying out words on the stairs to see what works for us before I mosaic them with glass and wood . 17 steps.... gonna be a big job I think I will order the wood lettering soon and get a start on them.
View from my scaffolding in the loft.....ooops yep I brought some of my plants in finally and they are loving the light in there. The hibiscus hasn't stopped blooming since we carried it up there. Stained and varnished the last windows that require scaffold yay!
Crazy twisty pine logs that will be scraped and stand on either side of the fireplace to anchor the mantle
Finishing up the poplar tongue and groove on the west wall in the loft. We used a shade darker oil from the ceiling for some contrast. This is Watco Oil - Dark Walnut
Completion. That little centre piece took me like 6 hours, what a waste of time. I know that angles are not my thing....hmmmm
Per then installed 3 of the ceiling fans in the loft
Relax... Respect... Enjoy... Dorri

  1. The little center piece looks great! So does the rest of the wood work! I am so excited to see it at Christmas time!
